Take in the magnificent scenery of the Glenshee mountains with many low level walks. Good estate tracks run close to the rivers in Glen Lochsie and Glen Taitneach ( OS Landranger map 43).
For the more challenging walks there are many fine mountains in the immediate area including The Cairnwell, Carn a Gheoidh, Glas Maol, Creag Leach, Glas Tulaichean and Ben Gulabin.
For the munroe bagger there are 21 munroes within a 14 mile radius of the Cairnwell pass. Pick up a copy of the Glenshee Outdoor Activity Guide with over 22 recommended local walks.
Be sensible about not over-reaching yourself on a mountain hike, Do not push yourself or your party beyond your limits and cut your walk short if you're tiring or the weather is worsening and you are not confident with your skills or equipment.
Leave a route card or other indication of your likely location with a responsible person and notify that person immediately of your safe return. If a real emergency occurs, the international distress signal is a group of six loud blasts of a whistle, to be repeated at one-minute intervals.
The emergency number in the uk is 999 and you should ask for mountain rescue.

The estate surrounding Glenshee Glamping belongs to a sporting estate and pheasant shooting takes place from Oct 1st to the end of January. It is a big estate and there are lots of drives so shooting could take place over a wide area.
If you come across a keeper whistling his birds on the hill, this means he is moving them/feeding them. Wait until he is finished and gives you the nod before moving on.
We publish shooting times in the Bothy when the estate provides them.
Absolutely first class. From website details, booking and staying. Excellent location for us skiing. Pods are beautiful and cosy. Wood fired hot tub and fire pit is an absolute must, especially after a days skiing. Finally, The Bothy was an added bonus that we didn’t think we would need. But was fully kitted out with everything possible and loved the communal feel. Can’t recommend enough. Well done Helena and Nathan, you’ll definitely be seeing us again! Xx

Beautiful surroundings, and views. We stayed in the Blackberry Hut with our dog and the accommodation was roomy, comfortable and well equipped. The toilet and shower facilities were immaculate (and warm!). The Bothy had everything you need to cook, and was also very clean and well stocked. Dog friendly, plenty of walks and lots of wildlife around too. We will definitely be returning!
